I only have PSP Photo 11 on this machine, so my tools are a bit limited. I just smudged and drew in eyes with highlights.
Going to have to learn to use GIMP on my Linux boxes. I'm told it's amazing for image editing.

version 9 mainly for the last few years. quite a jump for me. its got a warp brush but generally its much the same.

...that it's not the tool that's the problem for me as such. Most of it is lack of skill/experience, or maybe not being quick enough with what skill I have.
The speed that the board moves at (usually) means that I either have to post a reply that's half-arsed, or I miss the boat. I let a lot of stuff go by because I'm not good enough at it.

is about as good as you'd expect for open source rubbish. Photoshop is definitely worth getting a license for.
Even tho I prefer Corel Photopaint, but I don't think there's a Macintosh version.

I have no agenda regarding open source, though it 's true I both use it and have been frustrated by it.
Just how limited is Photoshop Pro Photo vs. any other flavour of Photoshop?

is probably more powerfull but i just got frustrated using it. try the 30 day trial of both and see what works for you. photoshop is more time consuming but gets nicer results.
same tools in different places. one thing puts me off adobe... something like £800-1000 where corels verison is 50-60 I know there must be a reason behind that price difference but for making wacky squirrels ladies... its not worth it for me.
