Mrs V is veggy - simply because she doesn't really like meat.

But to give up meat because of ethics is to be so.

I don't kill the animals I eat. Of course not - I live in Mordor - that would be ridiculous. I buy them from a man who provides that service for me. Just as I do - say - milk. Or water - it's amazing how many people are quite happy to drink water but don't purify it themselves.

Surely it is more hypocritical to like animals and then have them killed for food.

You can eat what you like and you'll never catch me actually complaining about it, people can choose.

Is having some sort of ethical belief wrong these days?

It's trying to get 'round self-proclaimed "ethics" using rhetoric that's the problem.

If you like meat, eat meat. Why give up meat to replace it with a "meat substitute" if you like eating meat?

# Some people who liked meat might decide it's not for them and substitute something else with protein in it.
I prefer personal ethics rather than preaching.

Example: Small number of people decide that selling anyone mortgages will get them commission (who cares about lies, telling untruths is just business/maturity), way down the line some poor bastards get to pay for it and we have a financial crisis. Ethics FAIL.
