this has been the problem for years.Arsenal try and put spin on it by saying Wenger is shrewd and careful but the fact of the matter is that they currently don't have a pot to piss in and the cost of servicing the stadium debt means that there is no transfer money year after year.
If they don't let Usmanov buy a controlling interest in the club and with that his financial backing, they will remain in the same position and the first season that they don't qualify for the ECL ( or later rounds after qualifying ) will pretty much put them in severe financial difficulty.
Much easier to say 'Wenger is clever, he's not wasting our money'. Course he's not, you haven't got any to give him and the loans have stopped.

Wenger is a good managerbut to be honest it does show you what a fucking genius Sir Alex is; of course he's bought big, but he's also nurtured some serious young talent; I sometimes think Wenger has got a bit carried away and typically flamboyantly-French with his desire to build up young talent when ultimately he just needs to purchase and get results with shear power
