This one was about 300 pics.My largest is over 1000 pics. (360 degrees at 432mm equiv at 8MP) Once the sky was filled in from lower resolution shots it came a bit under 8Gigapixels.

It took a while...with a better camera its easy to do it fairly quickly. I borrowed my parents camera in france and managed to get 2.2Gigapixles from half way up the eiffel tower ( lifeinmegapixels.com/location.php?location=eiffele ) in a fraction of the time that this one took beacuse of the better shot to shot time. 10mins/Gigapixel maybe
