It is tough out there at themoment. I've been made redundant 3 times in 12 years, and despite having a proven track record as an automotive and areospace engineer, spent the last couple of years counting stock in a clothing warehouse. I now work in a gallery.
Firms get so many applications these days, (I know we do, and we don't even have any jobs going). All you can really do is get your spelling right, don't appear over or under qualified and hope for the best.
