yeah, I've worked with 1and1 before. Had a few issues with their customer services I'm sorry to sayI hear BlueHost is good? Anyone tried them?

Dreamhost is good.You may not like the price, but customer service is supreme.
However, they are *not* a company that guarantees 100% uptime, but they do an extremely good job.
Unlimited storage, bandwidth et al.
And you get support for pretty much anything you want.
You can't (by default) get to php.ini but you can compile your own if you so wish.
*Edit* Speed. Hmmm. You can try pinging paul-skinner.com or visiting www.ecya.co.uk/ and see if you're happy (yes, the latter is a christian website, but it has lots of images and whatnot and is prime for testing speed).
