if i were to hazard a guessi would say that it was some form of spacebound arachnid or cephalopod with a metallic exoskeleton and a hidden inner mouth or beak, visible only by the golden area of skin covering it. eating space debris and broken satellites, the space squid could extract metallic elements from its food and excrete them, to form his shell.
