
... in order for it to work, considering population growth would otherwise mean an eventual soul shortage, it'd have to be possible for the same soul to be incarnated more than once at the same time -- so you could be reincarnated at a time before you last died. So it could still work.
Reincarnation's already pretty outlandish, so I figure it doesn't stretch credibility that much further to assume it happens "outside time", as it were.
Taken to its extreme, this could mean that everyone in history is an incarnation of the same soul.
If reincarnation is a "thing". Which it probably isn't.
