the fucktard who owns the pub my band are playing in tonight (our first proper gig) has said to our singer that I can't use my guitar amp (and hence distortion) because of some bullshit about it not being too loud because of flats next door.

this is in spite of me using one last sunday until 12 fucking AM.

cocksucker. I'm going to take the fucking thing anyway and argue with him.

Just tell him
You'll use it, but you'll unhook the flux modulator.
That way it's not going to travel so hard through walls.

I've got a number of options
so it's not the end of the world

the main thing that pisses me off is that our singer doesn't seem to give a shit. he's one of my best mates, but my god he can be a wanker.

if I can't get at least some distortion it's going to give my confidence a hell of a blow. how can you play face melting guitar solos with a clean sound? you can't...

Try telling them they can't have a mic for the gig and they'll start paying a bit more attention. Otherwise they don't give a shit about the problems with your amp or guitar or anything... so long as they can prance about showing off they're happy.

I've got a Marshall VS100, which has lovely sounding distortion built-in

it's heinously loud if turned up, but doesn't need to be...

I'm probably going to end up either using my shit ibanez distortion pedal which may not even work after 10 years of no use, or our bassist's ibanez bass distortion pedal....

edit: Gunter, it's worse than that, because he is the other guitarist too, but just plays an acoustic, so he's easy.
