I grew up on Merseyside in the 80sEvery kid I knew was scared of Purple Aki.
He was a kind of bogeyman; "If you go off the close on your bike on your own, Purple Aki will get you".
As we got older, we assumed it was some myth and didn't think about it much any more. It became like giant hogweed; a thing kids were collectively warned about, that nobody had actually seen.
Then, about ten years ago, someone told me he was real. I Googled and nearly fell off my chair.
