No business like show business
Warning: Rant

You know that actor's mantra 'never work with children or animals'?

The musician's is simpler - 'conductors'.

Overpaid, pompous arseholes.

They call themselves 'maestro'. 'Master'.

Master.

Right.

Master-beaters, the lot of them.

Not so much a rant as a brief wibble
but very, very true.

Amazing how
bad things get without them though.

That's not to say you're wrong. A 'nice' MD is very rare.

They may be pompous
but a good one can work magic, and overall I prefer music with one that without.

Why is a conductor like a condom?
It's safer with, but more fun without

Also . . .
They require the band to be upstanding as they take to the orchestra pit.

They also have a habit of falling to pieces at the most inconvenient time, resulting in the band having to pull out.

They will complain that they are being overstretched.
