blackface performers...It's all a bit more complicated than just writing off blackface performers as racist. There were some really interesting challenges on racial stereotypes made through minstrel shows, and plenty of african-americans would also blackface up - not to mention the multitude of traditions that have nothing to do with race at all.
But yeah, bless those Daily Mail readers...
