Professions I Hate
Broken Arrow says: Bankers, recruitment consultants, politicians. What professions do you hate and why?

Installers
Installers who work for Bt/Sky/Virgin Media/similar.. My advice... Do not let them into your house.... Get someone like a reputable electrician in and they will run the cables neatly and professionally... I hate going into newly finished houses and seeing cables punched through cavernous holes and badly clipped around skirtings/ door frames... I have seen cable guys take a drum of cable onto a roof and throw the end over the side of the building.. They then drill a hole in the living room window frame and push the cable through the hole and plug it into the back of the telly... No clips or ties anywhere... The cable blowing in the wind like a sail... Have some pride in your work you slacker!

yep
I know a guy who became a Sky installer. He barely knew one end of a screwdriver from the other, yet he is now trusted to drill holes in peoples houses.

As a candidate for a BT apprenticeship and someone who has done a lot of installation work in people's houses, it will annoy me pretty badly if I'm expected to do a shoddy job in order to finish as soon as possible. I wouldn't do it in my own house, so I don't think I have the right to do it in anyone else's.
Edinburgh is lashed together by miles of unclipped coax and telephone cable and it makes my teeth grind to look at it.

They're Brilliant
The cable in my lounge runs from near the ceiling at the back of the room (right next to the window), down to the floor, along the back wall where it then takes a ninety degree turn, goes underneath the couch to the front of the room to the box, and nowhere was it fastened. Ten minutes with a hammer and some proper sized cable holder's was all it took me.
And I should've told him to put the cable through the wall at the FRONT of the room, but it took me a week to realize.
