Usually there's a couple of caps or coverings over the screw holes that you have to prise off.Then it's just a matter of ramming a ratcheting phillips head in and out of at least one of the screw holes until it's loose enough to pull out. Sometimes a bit of grease is needed to lube the screw if it's in too tight.
Apparently only the wing mirrors on Cortinas are removable.
