This is a question The B3TA Detective Agency

Universalpsykopath tugs our coat and says: Tell us about your feats of deduction and the little mysteries you've solved. Alternatively, tell us about the simple, everyday things that mystified you for far too long.

I never can define the point when I fall asleep
It's 'eyes heavy, lights out, eyes closed, drifting thoughts, ??????, unconscious.'

I remember reading about hypnagogia (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Hypnagogia)
you can have awareness - it's a bit like having a cue for when you lucidly dream. If you can place that cue and respond then you can have a level of awareness during that state.

I suffer from hypnagogia
and sleep paralysis.

It can be very scary actually, as sometimes you can't tell if you're actually awake and paralysed or asleep and thinking you're awake or just dreaming. It's usually accompanied by a 'buzzing' sound like a radio inside my head and then i'll also occasionally have audible or visual hallucinations. I've been convinced somebody was trying to open my bedroom door (when i was alone in the house), I also heard somebody 'trapped in the wall' and also one time got 'woke up' by my housemate who was shining a blue torch in my face and was stood over me grinning(which he denied) - the scariest thing I ever experienced was being unable to move and I felt like I was being choked by a very dark thing that was just out of my sight, but for some reason I knew it wanted to harm me. Absolutely fucking terrifying.

The plus side to hypnagogia though is that I have very vivid dreams and sometimes they are lucid which means I can control them to an extent.

This all sounds a bit too familiar.
I remember sleep. If only...

Yay for vivid wet dreams!
But boo to those murderous bastards who choke us and laugh.

I have it too, it's more fun than not for me, but the terrors are fucking awful.
