Way out of my depth....
Moved to Melbourne, got a job with a dodgy "Consultancy" and was asked to "just show some slides about the GST (VAT) to some members of staff at a Transport Company. So I turn up, all prepared, Got the puter and projector set up, called IT for access to SAP, got it. People start milling in, then more people, then the Financial Director, then The CEO. FUCKING HELL!!! I thought, ok what would Anthony Robbins do here? So I did the only honourable thing a freshly landed English lad would say in Australia, I said, "Before we start, does anybody know what this GST is about? Some guy said "Yes" so I said "Over to you" and got me coat!!! I went straight to the office called them a shower of cunts for landing me in it and resigned!!

» Pure Ignorance

Weekly world news
Circa 1995, crappy spoof newspaper called Weekly World News, bought it for a laugh. Now this chick i worked with was ya typical blonde. Cue me:
I show her the front cover, there on the cover a fine Photoshop of the wee beastie, prone on "a beach in Loch Ness", lies Nessie, Dead!

me: Check this out
her: what
me: They found the loch ness monster dead
her; have they?
me yeah look at the picture
her: (starting to cry) thats so sad, is he really dead, what are they going to do with his body, have a funeral?

At this point I tell her its fake, she then replies, but look the picture, its real.

She was promoted, and i got fired for using company assets to promote my own business!!

» Lies Your Parents Told You

Neighbours
Watching Neighbours/Home and Away as a kid and thinking, wow Australia would be a cool place to live. I now live here and its shittier than England!

Also, told this to my younger brother after him spotting a pic of pubic hair in a jazz mag on the street...

Brother: why is it all dark there?
Me: She burnt it on that fireplace in the picture and thats why she has no clothes cos they burnt too!

Classic!

» Toilets

Kuntry Bumpkins
Was at a midsomers night party in darkest Wales (mold) with a pretty mixed bunch of people, from down toearth folk to real deliverance types, all is well smoked some chuff, got bevvied, etc etc.. Now we were staying in a farm house of my friends which we had the party in, so in the morning most people had gone but some stuck around, my mates making breakfast when theres this thumping noise from upstairs, then exasperated shouting. Imagine Jessie from the Fast Show, Ok, jessie decides to come down the stairs and proclaim, in the broadest Cornish accent, "'ave ya gort a bukka worrah, deez new toilarts are'nt built for a maaans bowels"

The toilet was blocked for 2 days by this mans beastly excretions!

» Evidence that you're getting old

mmm
signs i know i'm getting old (32 this year)

I watch Discovery Channel more than MTV
I get excited when "The New Yankee Workshop" is on

My hair is greyer than browner
I now go to registered massage parlours!
I like classical music more now than ever

Things aint so bad though, for one, i don't give a toss now what people think of me, I am comfortable with my look, my job is less stressful, and my wife is Nigella in the kitchen and Stripperlla in the boudoir!

(i do have a slight regret that I am no longer in the eligible criteria for the Club 18-30 crowd)

2nd edit - Also.... Hearing stuff form the 80's and thinking "it was like yesterday man!" and realising it was 20 sodding years ago!!!!

And I don't understand Yugioh and Dragonball. I have tried, but it just dont compute!

Tools! I love tools, it used to be Clothes but now my brand of choice is Snap On, not Jaeger!

Cars are still my weakness though, I can now in my 30's afford to run a Nissan Skyline!

And last but not least... Us children of the 80's will always be the most centred and cleverist of all the ages!!!

And i dont have to apologise for length!!!
