but this kinda reminds me of a Spanish(I think) short film that used to get shown in the early days of 24hr TV when they were desperate for things to fill up the time.

Some guy drops his kid off at school then goes into a phonebox to make a call. But the door jams and he can't get out. People try to rescue him but to no avail. Eventually, a truck from the phone company arrives and picks up the whole phonebox, with him still in it, and takes it away. They go way out of town to their factory, which is in the side of a mountain. He gets taken deeper and deeper into the mountain until he gets put in a huge room filled with thousands of these phoneboxes.

And in each phonebox is a corpse...
