i don't understand why so many people use adgif
you can get free gif programs that don't tag your animations

It's OK though.
You can wait until you get Photoshop, and just paste a big Square over the logo.
That's what I did.
legal copy of Photoshop, obviously.

Except
you would have to use Imageready since Photoshop doesn't do animations.

or you could use a hex editor to seperate the frames
then edit each one individually in photoshop, then hexedit them back together... a little heavy handed i'll admit

Man.
It's a shame my geek radar isn't working. I think you would have busted it right there.

OR
get a copy of the legal sort of Flash and make a gif from there!

You could
but exported gifs from flash are notoriously huge.
You are better of using something else, such as Imageready, to optimise them afterwards.

But my (totally legal) Photoshop 7
comes with ImageReady.
Don't all versions (above 4)?
I thought it was a 'feature'?

I think
it was version 5.5 and yes.
It's a seperate program though, rather than a feature.

Image Ready comes bundled
with Photoshop. (Or did with mine). I used pshop extensively in the past but until I came here I never found a use for IR.
B3ta has a lot of wasted hours to answer to.

web graphics work == imageready to some extent
basically "save for web" is an implementation of imageready from within PS but it isn't as efficient as copying your file into imageready and working from there
