Although living on a prayer will leave one bordering on malnutrition if the prayer is printed on ordinary paper, older works produced on papyrus may sustain someone for several days or even weeks.
Prayers produced in Gothic script by monks were often penned using the juice from berries as ink, which also adds many nutritious properties: plant produce with fruit and vegetable extract in addition to an archaic system of belief can be enough to suffice a man's belly and his soul.
