Edit: An Historical Note for our Younger Members:
"Marine Boy" was a japanese/american cartoon which ran in the UK from 1969 to 1972. Marine Boy could breathe underwater thanks to the product whose packaging I have depicted above. It was quite good telly for a six year old, which is what I was, but OTOH it was probably a BAD BAD BAD idea to tell six year olds that chewing gum would let them breathe underwater.
