Or interpret another religious text as meaning those 'rules' dont apply if you're martyred or killing infidels

the seventies, I think, saying that it wasn't suicide in pursuit of martyrdom. It was a game changer.

as I recall the first suicide bomber since ww2
was actually from Irgun or Stern. There are doubts as to whether he meant to blow himself up. I can't find the story right now It was a station bombing during the Palastine Mandate.
