Yes! A vet showed me this...
You grab the scruff with your forearm flat along their back, then slowly pull their head back so they're looking upwards. This deactivates their jaw muscles. Fingers in corners of mouth (for ninja skills, you use the same grabbing hand), open, pop pill to back of mouth, shut mouth, stroke throat until ikkle kittie swallows, let go.
You get the world's most accusatory look from the cat afterwards, mind.

I've always thought this might be a gender-dependent thing
My previous cats have generally been female and have all been totally susceptible to being deactivated via the scruff of their neck. However, with the two male cats I've had, doing it generally is just asking for a claw-flailing.

I tried this
on my kitty earlier when she was scratching the sofa. I didn't have a bulldog clip handy, so I just used one hand to pinch the back of her neck (gently) and the other to remove her claws from the sofa. She looked at me in awe after with a "how the hell did you do that?" sort of face. She hasn't done it since.

tried the deactivating thing on my cat and i can honestly say that parking a car on the scuff of the neck will deactivat the cat
not found out how to re animate it yet
