This is a question Control Freaks

Peej writes, "My mate Tony's dad used to weigh the breakfast cereal in the morning to make sure everybody got an equal amount and the pack provided the exact amount of servings advertised on the packet. I learned from this that the recommended serving size on a cereal packet isn't enough to feed a sparrow."

Sound familiar? Tell us more.

I had an awesome music teacher.
He had the best punishments for misbehaviour; if someone was slightly disruptive, he'd make stand up. If they continued, he'd make them stand on their chair... then their desk... then finally on a filing cabinet in the corner.
This usually had the requisite effect, as no-one wanted to have to balance on a filing cabinet for the rest of the lesson.

For those who continued to disrupt even from such a precarious perch, or those who had a long history of dicking about every lesson, he'd simply say "Go away!" and point at the door... this didn't mean "Stand outside my door!" however, because if anyone DID stand there, after 5 minutes he'd go out and say "No... I told you to go away... I really don't care where, but just no-where near here." The poor fucker would have to go and hang around outside in the cold, and risk being spotted by other, harsher teachers who'd then punish them for being out of lessons with no valid excuse.

That is brilliant.
Though surely tempting a coordinated effort to see how many people could get on top of the filing cabinet?

Presumably once the filing cabinet was occupied he would just lower the threshold for 'go away'

To be fair,
He had a number of filing cabinets... I only ever saw two filled simultaneously (two people balancing precariously usually being enough to keep everyone else in line).

Humiliation is the clearly the most effective punishment... harsh punishments such as writing 5000 lines or a physical beating, result in the pupil being commiserated by his fellow pupils, but a good quality humiliation will result in everyone taking the piss.

You seem to have forgotten inappropriate touching as a form of punishment.
