This is a question Controversial Beliefs

Some mugs still think the MMR injection gives children autism (it doesn't), while others are of the belief that we're ruled by billionaire lizard people. Tell us about views outside the mainstream which people go glassy eyed if you bang on about them (Your grandad's a racist - no need to tell us, thanks)

One of our bass players (we went through them like Spinal Tap through drummers) believed that spiders
Had come down on a meteorite or something tens of thousands of years ago, and that as our less-evolved selves we'd witnessed it, and passed on a genetic memory of them being "other", which is why so many people have such a seemingly irrational fear of them.

We were doing MASSIVE drugs when we had this conversation and it's perfectly possible he was just musing, but it was still a nice idea, I thought.

I have a similar theory about fear of “monsters”
Even though we're not subject to predation anymore, we carry the genetic memory of massive great things that cannot be reasoned with and will eat your face.

I think I like your one better.

It's the reason I don't like
cauliflower. Space vegetables are like, really bad for you.

I don't mind spiders though. Not to eat, of course, I mean in general.

I knew a guy who was convinced mushrooms were from outer space
and had arrived on Earth via spores on an asteroid

then again I was reading this the other day www.digitaljournal.com/article/348515
