This is a question Conversation Killers

ThatNiceMan asks: Have you ever been talking with people down the pub when somebody throws such a complete curveball (Sample WTF moment: "I wonder what it's like to get bummed") that all talk is stopped dead? Tell us!

Any internet spawned joke out of location
May not be the case with anyone else, but i hate it
What's funny on the net, does not belong down the Pub. Cue some very blank stares from everyone else and an awkward pause if someone tries to vocalise something viral.

Lies
a man getting cock punched is just as funny on You Tube as it is in the Pub.

Especially if you demonstrate it...

And vice versa, really.

I can't remember who it was
But they said they were in the pub and mentioned going after someone with the Honda Accord of justice. Consequently this was greeted with blank stares and several WTFs.

Sometimes
When something is mildly funny, but not laugh out funny I just say "lol" while keeping my face deadpan. It's rare that anyone understands the complexity of my statement.

I force myself not to do that.
I work in IT, use only Linux at home, only watch TV through the internet and (as I am doing now) browse the web through my phone. I've been called a geek by my colleagues in IT and have a virtual wife and kids -- I refuse to say "lol" lest I be branded even more of a geek.

I hope you say it as if it's an actual word.

I disagree in part...
That "Oi mate, you've shit yerself" video www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGJyOkKmYeM AND the Bobby Davro faceplant vid are both accepted worthy subjects to repeatedly quote in my circle of friends... and most of them aren't even webby types!

I'd never seen the Bobby Davro thing. Found it on youtube spliced with Keyboard Cat: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y5cq8U4Mbk

Laughed so hard I shit myself. Seems appropriate, really.

Maybe your first mistake was trying to describe goatse.

Maybe my second mistake was trying to re-enact it
