This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

any Final Fantasy game after FF9
I got into Final Fantasy when I got version 7 for the playstation on Christmas day 1997 - instantly hooked!!! I loved the gameplay, enthralled by the storyline, I shed a tear for Aeris when she met her untimely end and was scared shitless by Sephiroth (that music!!) Brilliant!

Final Fantasy 8 was even better! Graphics phenomenal, gameplay great if not better than 7! Wonderful storyline and a massive sense of achievement when I finally beat Ultimecia. The music sends a shiver down my spine. Awesome.

Ditto FF9 - awesome game, thoroughly enjoyable.

But every Final Fantasy game released since seems to be a massive letdown, despite all game magazines raving about them. Lately I tried so hard to get into FF12 but they just seem so soulless and bland. I don't feel like care how the characters develop, I just plough my way through as quickly as possible to somehow reach a point in the game that reminds me why I loved the older ones so much, but as yet haven't found that moment. So it is now on my shelf gathering dust while I try Kingdom Hearts out..

Still playing FFX
apart from the real time battles, the plot and story telling reminds me of FFVII

FFVII fan (I know I'm sad, you can laugh)
I'm really hoping they remake FFVII for the ps3, but I'm not convinced they will despite all the rumours. I did like FFXII even though it seemed really easy to beat the last boss.

Replaying FFX
I agree with you, other than FFX was pretty amazing in it's own right. The graphics are stunning, the battles are fun, and the sphere grid was a nice change of pace. Plus it's the only FF that made me cry come the end.

It's too bad FFX-2 sucked so much ass, THAT was the real disappointment.

I really enjoyed FFIX
But what the hell was that last boss all about? Just came out of bloody nowhere.

FFX-2 was utter crap. I remember rushing into town after high school to pick up my reserved copy, and then the utter disappointment when I finally played it.

Ever played FFVI?

Or Grandia?

FFVII and FFX
I loved VII and X, possibly X more than VII but it's close. I can't say I've really enjoyed any other version.

@ Xstopher
Yes, FFIX's final FINAL boss was really out of nowhere. I hated that wanker, took me ages to defeat him with that stupid status move.

I've played FFVI, but I fudged it up quite far into the game, and I haven't had the patience to go back and restart it all over again.

i felt exactly the same.
the first game which hooked me was secret of mana, with the same style, music and instantly pulled you in. if only squaresoft had not paired up with enix, things would be so much better
