I'm from Kent,
and went through a brief period of treating myself to pie, chips and gravy/curry sauce, on a weekly basis. Frankly, it's not all that, and actually rather wrong.

I'm not a southerner
But gravy on chips is wrong. Not wrong in the sense of white socks with black shoes wrong but wrong in the cutting your hair with a strimmer sense of wrong. Chips are designed to be a crisp shell of near molten, soft potato. Why go to all that effort and smother it in bloody gravy- amongst the most disappointing of all sauces even when used correctly?

Easy enough to make yer own gravy (I might be a southerner, but I love gravy on chips) - that way you can make it lovely and thick.
