This is a question Bizarre habits

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "Until I pointed it out, my other half use to hang out the washing making sure that both pegs were the same colour. Now she goes out of her way to make sure they never match." Tell us about bizarre rituals, habits and OCD-like behaviour.

Checking the Iron
I use the iron pretty much every morning on a daily basis. I actually have to sometimes physically hold the plug in my hand and say to myself that the iron is off. Then soon as I get in the car to the station I text or call my girlfriend who I live with and say "can you check I have switched the iron off?"

I also sometimes double back to make sure I have shut the windows, which I am almost certian I have closed.

Drives me bloody mad.

Why not get a timer switch for the electrical
socket, set it to run for 20 minutes at a time.

Then, even if you do leave it switched on, you know it will switch itself off before it can do any harm. If you are still ironing when it goes off, just hit it again.

And by the way, if you live with your girlfriend, why on earth are you involved in the ironing anyway?

But the evil electrickery is still coming into the timer switch, and as any fule nos, those things are prone to failure at the most inopportune times. Charring the wall/carpet/cat at best, and burning the house down at worst.

OCD!
mild though, probably. i had it with hair straighteners many years ago. luckily technology has advanced so mine will switch off automatically if not used for 30 mins.

i heard of a girl who would unplug the iron/hair irons and take a pic of it on her mobile, so when out she could reassure herself that it was off.

Im exactly the same...
even if I havent used the damned thing that morning, Ill get all the way to the tube station then suddenly think ' shit, did I check the iron..?!'.
Had to walk back and check more times than I care to remember...

Now, I check, and say out loud 'IRON; OFF' while looking at the plug lying on the floor...

Im special I know...

This used to be me.
One time, having to check for myself whether it was off, I stupidly put my fingers to the base...

That day I decided I was too stupid to own an iron and got rid of it realised it was too dangerous for me and got rid of it
