This is a question Little Victories

I recently received a £2 voucher from a supermarket after complaining vociferously about the poor quality of their own-brand Rich Tea biscuits, which I spent on more tasty, tasty biscuits. Tell us about your trivial victories that have made life a tiny bit better.

erm...like one of those mastercard ads:
Magistrate court's fine for dodging train fares for over a year: £90
Money saved due to dodging train fares: approx £2000
Swindling a coin eyed, profiteering, shit cunt of a train franchise - who in a sane world wouldn't be allowed to run a kiddies playground let alone a vital part of our country's transport infrastructure- and finishing £1910 UP: fucking PRICELESS

I obviously wouldn't do it again though your honour

Part of the fare structure will be to account for povvo pikeys like you fare dodging
You've really just stuck it to your fellow passengers, not the rail company. Not that you'd care being a pikey and all.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 10:25, closed)
Have you ever wondered why the ticket prices are so high?
maybe it's because the trains are jam packed with self-centred freetard scum like you.

Oh that's better. I feel great getting that off my chest. Little victory for me. Thank you QOTW

To the replies above:
Seriously? Their profit is wholly made of government subsidy - they're theiving off of you. Go read Private Eye's section on it and you realise what a bunch of epic fucking cunts the rail operators are, John Major was for privatising them and Labour were for handing them everything they wanted while jacking up the subsidy.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 11:38, closed)
Oh I know you are right
But fare dodging isn't going to help and it just pisses off those of us that have no choice but to subsidise them.

There are better ways to make your feelings known than rob the person sitting next to you.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 11:51, closed)
Fair enough, 'spose.
It depresses me that none of the parties are interested in nationalising the rail network, despite it being far cheaper to do than to continue subsidising the companies. From the figures I saw, it would cost only six months subsidy to buy back all the TOCs and rolling stock. Imagine how cheap it would be...

As an example, I go from Hornsby to Sydney each day and a month's fare is $148 (so ~95 squid) - and that's for a 35 km journey. On top of that, everyone complains about how expensive the trains are here...

quite...

the usual squawks of outrage from people who always seem to defend the out right robbery of train passengers in the UK
*IM* honest to admit to be being a dodgy little scally (at the time anyway ahem) I bet the shark eyed cunts rinsing our transport system for profit day in day out couldnt
fuck the lot of 'em

Having dodged a couple of fares
mostly due to running to catch the train & not having time to go to the machine (in the days before multiriders - oyster cards to you rabble).
I got nabbed once, refused to give my details for the ticket, showed the conductors/rent-a-cops my willingness to pay the fare (shwoerd I even had the right change for my ticket), met the cops & a lawyer friend at the station, bought my ticket (cops were happy) & told the rail cops to stick it.
Me - -$2.70(ish), Transits(Renta-rail-cops) - looking like the fuckwits they were.

Puerile, but cathartic

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 15:20, closed)
And did you gain a criminal record for this?

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 14:22, closed)
Having a Criminal Conviction for Dishonesty
PRICELESS.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 14:29, closed)
'Tis true.
If the OP ever ends up in court again he'll no longer be a person of good character and will no longer benefit from the prima facie presumption that he's telling the truth. Something to bear in mind if you're trying to assert your rights to something.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 17:55, closed)
It was more the fact he won't be able to ever work for a professional body.
Having a previous conviction does not deny you the presumption of innocence, there is no 'prima facie presumption that he's telling the truth' also, you've misused the phrase 'prima facie'.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 18:03, closed)
However in his own ham-fisted way he has raised the prospect of previous convictions being raised during the course of a criminal case
In the event of a conviction for an offence of dishonesty being raised it certainly will be taken into account when the court weighs the evidence given by the defendant.
The professional body aspect is taken as a given.

I love it when you talk dirty.

There was a lovely confession of a sexual assault on a child on here last week.

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 21:20, closed)
exactly
dont you worry
I know where I stand (and it isn't on some moral high ground about dodging train fares)
(, Tue 15 Feb 2011, 10:34, closed)
Did you pretend to be really sorry?

(, Tue 15 Feb 2011, 17:46, closed)
Also, my desire to not break the law is not based on any moral ground
high or otherwise.
(, Tue 15 Feb 2011, 17:48, closed)

I didnt have to pretend to be anything... as due to the rather strange way our legal system work sometimes... I didn't actually have to go anywhere near a court (just plead guilty -which I was...obviously)
(, Wed 16 Feb 2011, 16:49, closed)

I can't say I approve of you dodging the fair, but financially, your playing a blinder.

I somtimes have been forced to skip fairs because a ticket machine didnt like getting £2.20 in 20p s. I was forced into it but no inspectors showed up for it.

I felt like a master criminal
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 18:04, closed)
While I agree that the train companies charge far too much
dodging fares isn't the way to go about changing things.

Meanwhile everyone else has to pick up the tab for you. I once heard that if everyone paid the tax they should rather than some people dodging it then income tax would be about half what it is now.
I imagine that the same is true of train fares.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 18:13, closed)
in a perfect world income tax would be halved
But in reality, if everyone paid what the should I don't see the government or large corporations paying us all an "honesty dividend".

Petrol would still cost £1.30 a litre (and rising), home and contents insurance would not go down, train fares would still go up. It would just result in larger profit margins in the private sector. As for the public sector, that really boils my piss. There would always be some senior cunt nugget giving the go ahead to another millennium dome, ID card scheme or just half a million quid worth of shiny stonework to tart up a small piece of the local high street while the natives watch double deckers disappear into the smaller potles. My local authority are making all sorts of cuts at the moment. I whole heartedly agree that efficiencies should be made. but not when the same cash strapped hand spunks 200 grand supporting "15 elite netball athletes" www.eveningtimes.co.uk/mobile/news/195k-bid-to-win-netball-medals-1.1083751

Yes and living in cheaper countries than the UK would cause bedlam.
(, Tue 15 Feb 2011, 2:44, closed)
I wonder if it's possible to photoshop train tickets
and print them on a laser printer.
