This is a question How nerdy are you?

This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.

So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?

As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.

Revel in your own nerdiness.

Rewriting Star Wars
I was so disappointed about Star Wars Episode I that I wrote a 5,000 word critique and a further 7,000 word outline for how the script could be improved with a minimum of time spent on re-shoots, hoping beyond hope that George Lucas would pay attention and drop $50-million of his own money in order to improve it.
What's worse, I was not 13, I was 30.
In a recent article he pointed out that fans who don't like the films write their own and that Episode I made the most money.
I felt betrayed and ashamed.

Episode1 made the most money
'cos gullable fools who liked the originals thought it would be good.

The cinemas were full of people like me who believed the hype & were sadly dissapointed, so we didn't bother going to see the other two.

So the other two had fewer audiences, so the Phantom Menace had the biggest audience.

Doesn't make it the best one.

The other two
Were far superior to The Phantom Menace. But still not as good as the original trio, IMHO.

Phantom Menace did have
the best lightsaber fighting though

Oh yeah.

I liked the story that George Lucas had to reprimand Ewan and Liam on set for doing their own lightsaber noises. "We'll edit them in on the final dub, boys".

Now THAT'S nerdy!
