Because Chuck Brown died last week?
Chuck, along with his band The Soul Searchers, helped create and shape Washington DC's go-go scene, popularised by Trouble Funk, whose 'Drop The Bomb' is an outright classic.

That's why I'm upset. Still, at least that chutney from Crowded House is also dead. The Lord giveth, and all that....

EDIT The Bee Gees were good songwriters - and epic caners. Apparently each of them had their own vices: one was a massive toker, one an alky and another a raving pill-popper. Because of this regime they all had to be handled differently by their management, who nicknamed them 'pilly, pissy and potty'.

Here's an excellent and arse-clenchingly rare cover of one of theirs, the sole single by 60s psych obscurites Sands:

They're fucking terrible. They are the absolute apogee of mediocrity.

My sister likes them, FFS.

If you ever visit Oz, and I show you around the place, I will be SURE to have Crowded House blasting through the car.
AND I will be singing along to it. Loudly and as Badly as I can manage.

Then I shall be forced to get all 'Bradley John Murdoch' on yo ass.
I have to confess, though, and genuinely no offence here, if I had the money to go to Australia, I'd go somewhere else.

I don't have a clue who that is.

Oh. Him. Nah. You won't. You have a kid, you're broken in the respect of being a killer.

My pal Mat turned down an 18-month world tour playing bass for them
because they were 'so fucking dull'.

After 10 years with Death in Vegas (a bunch of epic wastrels if ever there were) this was an offer he very much could refuse. It would have been extremely lucrative, though, apprarently.
