It is nowhere near as good as everyone said it was. Im more concered with the shit review Prometheus got from Empire.
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:13, 1 reply, 12 years ago)
It has faults, but not many of them.
And yeah, Prometheus is getting very mixed reviews.

Blockbusters are defined by faults and plot holes
the point is to enjoy them for what they are

I thought the idea was to get from gold to gold in 60 seconds or less?

really?
I'm reading the wrong things then. I know The Guardian likes it, Empire not so much and a couple of other reviews I've read were luke warm. Not that it bothers me either way, I want to see it anyway, so...

Apart from Mark Rufallo I honestly thought the whole thing was shit. Zero story, awful bad guys,
A gay captain America and they criminally under use Hawkeye. The iron man v Loki one upmanship was fun but that's it.
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:19, Reply)
I agree Captain America isn't good enough
They picked the wrong actor to play him.
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:20, Reply)
I wanted to love it AA I really did. It just didn't excite me at all.

(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:21, Reply)
It's fair enough
My friend and I were both a bit disappointed that they replaced Edward Norton, but Ruffalo was so much better as Hulk than we'd expected.
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:22, Reply)
Rufallo was amazing in Zodiac too. I also think Samuel L Jackson is shit in the Avengers.

(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:33, Reply)
I think Fury is underused, but there's no-one else that could play him better
I've not seen Ruffalo in anything else
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:39, Reply)
There are shit loads that could play him better.
I will start with Kurt Russell
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:51, Reply)
Too old now
And hasn't Nick Fury been black for the last 10 years anyway?
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:55, Reply)
Fuck the colour, who played the comedian in watchmen?
Him.

*geek hat firmly on*
Only in the Ultimates Universe. Not in the main Marvel comics.

Without getting too Geeky, it could have done without Hawkeye pretty much all the way through, apart from him being needed to really make it 'The Avengers'. And, in a non spoilery way, the big bads could have done with being a little more distinctive and threatening. But Loki was fantastic, Ruffalo showed it's possible to make an interesting character out of The Hulk, the dialogue was cracking, the Black Widow interogation scene was amazing and the whole film was properly funny. Oddly it does seem like we have the same problems with it, but I liked it in spite of them and for you it seems they took away from the rest.
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:20, Reply)
It's too late to try not to get too geeky now.
That happened way back in this conversation.
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:22, Reply)

That's better.

to me it seems that the diffference in abilities between the chararcters makes the more human ones redundant
surely a gu with a bow and arrow could'nt kill a robot super weapon?
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:23, Reply)
That's why he is great, like batman. He kicks ass without powers.
Although Nolan says batmans superpower is his cash, which I like.
(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:25, Reply)
Maybe I wanted/expected too much? They need to do four hour movies with a break in the middle.

(, Thu 31 May 2012, 9:23, Reply)
I still can't believe the best comedy moments of the film all come from Hulk
