Art is knee-deep in pretentious pricks, so in general I avoid it.
Although I have a mate who is a painter and won a £25K prize a few years ago and now works full time in his own studio. Although to be fair his work is actually tangible 'art', it's not a curled up shit in a bed or lights that go on and off, or some old bollocks like that.

I just like decent paintings. preferably sea or landscapes, with no fucking PEOPLE in them.

Come to think of it Vettriano's stuff might be the only paintings I like with actual people in them.
