going to the affordable* art fair tonight as my friend who has a gallery is exhibiting there
what sort of art do you like?
alt: Donald or thrillary?
*in Battersea that's under £4,500 I think, but when it moves to Chelsea it's under £10,000. I am not sure they necessarily know what "affordable" means

I used to have a Jack Vettriano print on my wall.
I think this counts as either two fingers up to the art world, or an admission of artistic ignorance. Take your pick.
Alt: only an idiot would back Donald, so he's in with a good chance, I reckon.

Kind of a hard question, really.
You can put me in front of a work of art and I'll tell you if I like it or not, but I wouldn't necessarily be able to tell you why. So that's basically my non-answer.
Alt: they're both equally representative of how different aspects of American society are fucked up beyond recognition and should both be kept as far away from the White House as possible.

I think most art is pointless.
I prefer photography, which I don't consider to be art for reasons too boring to expand upon. Also I harbour a strong prejudice against artists as I think they're largely self-satisfied, effete and arrogant. Though I'm sure you'll tell me your friend is lovely.
In conclusion, my house is full of my own photography because I'm a) a boor and b) a poor

Is photography not an art form because it's simply using a machine to create a replica of something which exists independent of the artist?
I hereby declare you to be a) an artist and b) a plagiarist.

You can declare anything whatsoever to be art, therefore it's all bullshit.
So there.

Art is knee-deep in pretentious pricks, so in general I avoid it.
Although I have a mate who is a painter and won a £25K prize a few years ago and now works full time in his own studio. Although to be fair his work is actually tangible 'art', it's not a curled up shit in a bed or lights that go on and off, or some old bollocks like that.

Come to think of it Vettriano's stuff might be the only paintings I like with actual people in them.
