I do have a valid UK drivers license but I never choose to drive abroad. The car hire and fuel costs may not amount to as much as a taxi but I find that when I am trying to enjoy myself I would rather not be subjected to a different kind of liability law and have to be responsible for a few grand worth of kit.
Surely only the poor drive themselves anyhow?

YeahI often find, when sitting on an isolated outcrop embracing my wife, watching the sun set over the Grand Canyon, that the lack of a taxi driver waiting with the meter running really kills the mood.
