This is a question Waste of money

I once paid a small fortune to a solicitor in a legal case. She got lost on the way to court, turned up late with the wrong papers and started an argument with the judge, who told her to "shut up, for the love of God". A stunning investment.

Thanks to golddust for the suggestion

oh and another thing
don't ever think a marine aquarium is a good idea, sure they look great in the shop - i spent 3 grand setting one up, pissed 30 or 40 quid a week every time something died. fucked a flatscreen telly spilling salt water down the back of it then eventually realised at 4.5 grand deep shit was not going to stop dying. i got less than 200 quid selling the bits onto the next mug.

you cant replicate a coral reef in your living room and any fucker that tells you otherwise is a liar or an aquarium shop owner (which is the same thing).

I have kept various aquariums for the better part of 8 years.
I put it to you that you were doing it wrongly.

ive been through the whole...
talking in latin (fish varieties) turning into a part time chemist - ph, nitrates, reverse osmosis units blah blah

granted if you are prepared to spend HOURS AND HOURS EVERY WEEK doing water changes and pissing about with filters, skimmers and an array of test kits WAY WAY longer than you actually spend enjoying the thing, seeing the same latin speaking nerds in the same aquarium shops every week and generally have no life, then yeah it's loads of fun

'various aquariums' usually means 'started over again after a huge tank crash' and i note you don't dispute the stupid amounts of money required either

'Various aquariums' here means I have more than one.
I didn't dispute the monetary factor. Because you were doing it wrong.

no doubt
but to do it right you have to turn into a nerdy part time chemist as tedious as you

haha. You so bitter.

ive had dogs cats reptiles fish and birds for over 20 years
i've bred 12 pedigree dogs (boxers) and rescued everything from unwanted moggies to doberman pinschers

i think maybe you're jumping to conclusions

It is my understanding
that Marine aquariums are somewhat more difficult than freshwater aquariums.
I have freshwater fish and crustacians, for some years with little or no maintenance, but aquaintances with marine aquariums have had disastrous results because of minor problems.

like i say
you cant replicate a coral reef in your living room

a Lake Malawi aquarium is a decent compromise - brightly-coloured like the marine stuff, but less prone to dying for the fun of it - and orders of magnitude cheaper to buy and run.

ah cichlids
the brackish refuge of the broken marine enthusiast

you are of course correct, unfortunately most people only go this way after thousands of pounds worth of salty tears have been tipped down the drain

Watching my ex
Struggle with failing filters, brackish water and miserable fishes for years, makes me never want to embark on this kind of journey.

Is Spimf your ex?

Well he does say he is

So in answer to your question
Definitely not
