I don't know why; I just know that if the PC is on the PS3 can't connect.
If I could use them at the same time I'd visit /talk on my PC while I waited for my PS3 downloads.

The PC and PS3 share a split cable because I don't have two ethernet cables long enough to reach the router from here.
