I like to think there's still somein a deep, remote valley somewhere in the mountains on the border between Iran and Afghanistan. Though that seems a bit far East so perhaps some mountains a bit nearer here.
I once saw a program that decided that Eden was in one of those mountains and that the story in the Bible was a garbled version of a folk myth dimly remembering a patriarch who was expelled from the valley.
