# The ZX Spectrum 48K had 8 colours
You could double that to 16 by using the 'half-bright' option, though of course half-bright black is still black. So, essentially, there are 15 colours.

but as I recall, the extra option was simply 'bright' rather than 'half-bright' I remember the bright-black option being mocked even back in the early 80s
