I can see why, all this stupid overpriced shiny stuff and daft trendy tech nerds queuing around the block for days just for something they can impress their mates with, but I hate teh idea folks avoid ALL of it for the same reasons, just don't get involved in the silly season stuff and go for the older or more practical products, it's good shit and they last for years anyway!
*edit* Ah well you see I'm not a techie boy so can't answer that, but that's my main reason for liking macs, I don't need to know about or deal with what's under the bonnet, it just works and needs very little maintenance, practically none in fact, everything I add new adds itself, anything I remove removes itself, it rarely falls over or gets sick, and I love that!
Mind you my experience of PCs was about 10 years ago when Windows was it's former over bloated over active self, I'm told it's new (Mac OS style) self is way nicer and a lot less random and poorly, but I notice my friends with PCs still seem to be spending at least one weekend every other month re-jigging them to keep 'em running properly and stable, and they talk to one another like a couple of binars.
