hmmmif you go into options of i.e. then advanced..
tyr ticking use http 1.1 throuhg proxy connections.
if that fiails switch it off again go to your control panelk and have a look for WSproxy

the otehr thing that might have happend is previsouly somone has tried ftp on your machien with ie and select anonymous login AND do not ask me again.
You could try getting round that by resotring deafults in IE (but take a record of what they are now0
