The tabloids did their very best 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink' about him, with lots of 'quotes' from former pupils describing him as weird. I believe the word 'loner' was mentioned at one point, as was a veiled reference to suggest he's homosexual (which, of course, marks him as a perv in the eyes of the papers - regardless of whether he'd be interested sexually in Ms Yeates).
By way of balance, the school he used to teach at made a statement saying nothing more than that there had never been any complaints against him. Talk about damning with faint praise.
