I was very irritated with the coverage of this.
If he is not guilty the way the press have gone into every detail of his life will destroy him.
If he is guilty, what right do the press have to go into every detail of his life?
Edit: good post though!

I was thinking much the same. There should surely be some right to anonymity until after conviction...

I know, i hate the whole helooks like one mentality but I have been laughing at the Charltonesque fro. people will always think he's done it unless they find the killer now.

I'm sure they used to say "We have arrested a suspect"
and left it at that until they were convicted.
Edit: Damn, was supposed to be replying to Tribs.

But, but ... he MUST be guilty!
He's a bit odd and he's got bizarre hair for fuck's sake - what more evidence do you need?

I was thinking the very same the day they arrested him.
Edit: Ironically I was predicting he did it before they arrested him.
Then when they did, I was saying, it probably isn't him at all.

^^This^^ also
The tabloids did their very best 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink' about him, with lots of "quotes" from former pupils describing him as weird. I believe the word "loner" was mentioned at one point, as was a veiled reference to suggest he's homosexual (which, of course, marks him as a perv in the eyes of the papers - regardless of whether he'd be interested sexually in Ms Yeates).
By way of balance, the school he used to teach at made a statement saying nothing more than that there had never been any complaints against him. Talk about damning with faint praise.
