(Although I know that's a bit of a generalisation...)

to be declared a Federal disaster area. Surely granting his wish would make him look like a total arse. Unless you're just out to hurt people.

I hope that all the existing and potential suffering from the tornados can be limited as much as it possibly can.

but it is a bit petty if they don't, however outspoken the governor may have been. The people deserve it. (However they may have voted, or have not voted)

I'd be surprised if that wasn't so.
Haven't followed it all that closely (what with it being a different country), but it'd be disgusting if A or B or C was trying to make political capital out of it.

Texas is still not a Federal disaster.
I'm just sad (and I don't even live there) I wish Bush had helped us out when my house was reduced to matchsticks by Katrina. They're just in it for what they can get.

But there's surely a bit of a change from when New Orleans (and other places) were just allowed to be destroyed, and today's thinking over there.
Or are people unaffected by disaster disgruntled at the idea of their tax dollars being spent to save lives elsewhere in the country?

lets the fires in Texas burn.
They sent men to the moon, they pulled down the Iron Curtain. A fire should be childsplay. Yet it isn't. A fire in an opponent's house. Who would notice?

The same people are in play. My mother-in-law is still waiting for her FEMA grant. The insurance adjuster was run out of their parish by the mayor , who shot him several times in the ass with a shotgun. No charges were ever pursued, because it is legal to take potshots at a thief. I hoppe the people affected have similar remedies. (I mean, the mayor could have reached for his AR-15) (that's an assault rifle for you Brits)

"the [Texas] state legislature, meanwhile, recently proposed slicing $34 million out of the Texas Forest Service's $109 million biennial budget, with most of the cuts coming from training and equipment grants for volunteer crews who deal with wildfires."

The people who have their lives destroyed should just burn. Yeah, I totally get that.

If you don't get paid to do this, you should probably stop now. I'm not a massive right-winger, I just slighted Bush, but I will make anyone who defends any politician look very silly. They are all liars. Obama promised to close Gitmo, he said he withdraw the troops from Iraq (50000 still there) Bush said "No more taxes". You know the rest. You want me to start on the UK liars?
As I said, I need sleep. PM me if you need to be reminded of how corrupt your favorite political embodiment is. Then look at your bank account and ask who sent it to where it is. It's probably just some crazy conspiracy theory!
