Sadly very true, everyone I spoke to (bar one) who voted no did so because of various bits of misinformation, the most popular being that under av you have to rate all candidates on the paper. I stopped counting after the eighth person said 'oh, I would have voted yes if I'd known that'. Makes me very worried about the upcoming Scottish independence referendum...
