Still stuck with a political elite only supported by a minority.

Isn't 32% the average percentage of the vote the winners actually get?

Sadly very true, everyone I spoke to (bar one) who voted no did so because of various bits of misinformation, the most popular being that under av you have to rate all candidates on the paper. I stopped counting after the eighth person said "oh, I would have voted yes if I'd known that". Makes me very worried about the upcoming Scottish independence referendum...

I saw it in the in-law's house, I was furious.
She voted "No" and after I explained how it works decided that "Yes" would have been better.
The effin media should stick to the facts until the vote is cast.
Also what really annoys me is that people are using the AV referendum vote as a way of battering Clegg and missing the point entirely.

this is so true it sort of hurts - maybe the public want to be spoonfed their opinions via the newspapers, tv and what that bloke said down the pub.
Bloody shame.

Bloody shame.

It's fair to say that there were shit campaigns on both sides and likely as not there would have those who hadn't read up on the issues, but there will have those that had and still understandably voted no. There will have been those who did wanted more stronger reform and voted no. It wasn't a great system on offer, debateable whether it was better, even though I did vote for it, I hasten to add. Anyway there's still time for change, hopefully.

Because 'call me Dave' told me to vote no*.
I find listening to cunts and doing the opposite of what they say has done me well in life.
* May not be the real reason I voted yes, but was a contributing factor.

And very true.
And anyone hoping for any other kind of electoral reform can kiss it goodbye. The electorate has spoken, and we won't see PR or anything else within our lifetimes.

It attains a change at a limited cost to the main two parties.
But don't let it discourage you, after all it's listening to pricks like Matthew Elliott and letting him have you believe there's no chance to change it now that makes that happen.
In that referendum you could be certain of one thing, that you were voting for AV and that's it, that's what I did, because it was the only offer on the table.

But what's worse is swallowing the rhetoric of the first people ready to express it. Winning an argument counts far more.

I thought it would be funny to see politicans and voters run around like headless chickens when the results for an election look to be going one way but the AV system changes it to another way, the way the voters and politicains didn't want
ah well, we're all fucked whatever party gets into power anyway
