# I used to spend
alot of time making calls on behalf of clients to agencies like this. And it never ceased to amaze me how effective a polite attitude (or a bit of flirtatious charm) got when negotiating paying their debts off. They're just humans in these companies after all, they will always reasonably negotiate (most times)

also water utility bills, no matter how much threatening they do, cannot cut you off for non payment - it's a basic human right. just sayin' ;)

# A lot of people know this
Someone from one of the water companies told me that most of the people who owe them money are not poor people struggling to pay, but loaded people who just refuse to pay their bills.

# In Scotland
You pay for water along with council tax and it's treated as one debt which makes it difficult not to pay for one and not the other.

It stops the rich sticking two fingers up at the water board.

(I think the same applies in the Isle of Man - you pay water along with your rates.)
