because both auctions and dealers have huge profit margins and enjoy being on tvso when they buy the stuff the dealer lowers their price to appear on tv (advert) like a great and trustworthy person to buy from and then the auctioneer does their best to oversell the item to show what a great auctioneer they are.
And when it's celebs the dealer bends over backwards and auction sells better as the item was touched by someone vaguely known.
