Ooh, you intellectual!Me and my sis couldn't get our heads round mah jong when we were little, but the set we had was better at domino falls than actual dominos.
I think my folks tried to play it properly once, round at my uncle's, but his missus put a Hot Chocolate LP on and they kinda gave up.
Trying to play mah jong, I mean, not, like, gave up totally.

To be honest.....Only played it a couple of times, 1988 or 89, don't remember how to play it now, can't even remember what the point of the game was, but I know I learnt the rules fairly quickly and don;t seem to remember it being difficult...
