Well I was alive in 1982And the John Carpenter version takes some beating. I crapped my pants watching it and the tension was unreal.

Indeed. I was surprised to find out that ALL of the aliens are either animatronic or puppets.The level of detail and movement in the creatures is unreal. The film makers of today have it so easy, with their new-fangled CGI...
